As some of these guys have said get rid of their food source and they'll move off hence the cats. Cats, no mice, no snakes.
Personally I like them as they have their place in the order of things. Don't like copperheads around the house but otherwise just leave them alone. Try to never kill one unless they become to accustomed to hanging around the house. Rattlers are a no no unless their in the woods or away from the house. Far away......
