Sorry, but I can't believe you and your son bought a new vehicle without checking what the insurance would run. That's the first thing I tell my son to do everytime he starts talking about buying a new car.

Based on what I was paying before my son moved out, three grand a year sounds quite reasonable for a new vehicle driven by a 19-year-old.
