self service vegetable stands

Does anyone here do the old self service fruit and vegetable stands with a 'honesty' cash box? We used to do that all the time when I was a kid. Just set up your stand by the hwy with prices posted and put a homemade wooden box with a slit cut in the top for a cash box. I was talking to a friend of mine the other day who has a small chicken house and does that with fresh eggs. He says he hasn't had a problem yet with people cleaning him out. Just wondering.
