As the others say, your hose has pressure in it. Need to relieve that. Do not mess with a jar, no glass around! If you bang the coupler ball with a hammer or onto iron, you likely will damage the ball & it will leak from now on. Be careful with how you beat on this thing. Usually only one line id pressurized, the other one will connect. So, get one connected. push hard or lightly tap the other one to relaese an oz or 2 of oil. Generally this will pressurize the other line holding the implement up, and now you can hook up this line. Not always tho, some days are just a battle..... Be real careful, hyd oil can be under 2000 lbs of pressure, and if it hits your skin at that pressure, it will inject itelf under your skin like a hypo. This is very very bad, do not ignore it, you need medical attention _right_ away. Very seriously bad. Rarely happens so we all get lax on it, but be aware. --->Paul
