Hey Bob, not really enough info to make a really good diagnosis but I'll go as far as saying if you've got a 12V battery you need to get a 12V coil instead of a 6V. Make sure when you hook the hot wire to the coil that you are hooking it to the poitive side, and that you do in fact have power on it when you turn the switch on. If it origionally had a coil with an external resister make sure you delete the old resister from the circuit when you put the new resister type coil in. Finally make sure that when you put the new points in that you set them to the proper gap. We've got a 440IC which has the same engine and it's pretty sensitive to having the right point gap. Check/try these things and if it doesn't work post again. Good luck.
