I can agree with some of what you say...BUT....let's not start using the "Tornado-and-my-house" thing as a fits-all example. I spent some time cleaning up my relative's place that was destroyed during the 1965 Palm Sunday tornado outbreak in Indiana. The devastation was total. BUT - I could walk out of that path 1/4 mile to the north or south and be back to electricity, running water, open roads, etc. The hurricanes cut a swath many miles wide. Federal support is all that's going to put the area back on its feet.
