Jerry; I have a 03 Silverado, 3/4 with heavy tow package, diesel with allison trany. 40,000 miles on it. I tow a large fifth wheel camper about 2 thousand a year. I tow a reciever hitch trailer with tractor's, implements or whatever at least 2 thousand a year (will replace with fifth wh.). I have a fifth wheel (converted from gooseneck) dumpbox trailer I use about 8 or 9 hundred a year. The farm/hayfield is 32 miles from the house. My average milage to date is 16.4 by the onboard computer which is always right on when I check it. Get up to 24 at 60 no load and down to 12.8 with a big load including my camper. If you can find a clean used diesel go for it.
