I agree whole heartedly with the folks who warn against using a tractor (especially with internal hydralics) for a log splitter. Whay use a high tourque 40 odd HP motor to do the job of a 5 hp motor.

One more piece of advice thought, look for a horizontal splitter with the wedge on the piston vs on the end (front) of the machine. You will save oodles of time and effort not having to pick up every piece of wood the needs a second split.
