Joe, just my .02 - I don't know the hp of your Ford, but a 5 hp briggs with a 2 stage pump will probably out split it and use less gas doing so. I almost did a 3 pt years back, but I couldn't see running my 574 [52 hp] almost wide open to split wood. No 2 stage pump on a tractor. Those new splitters for under 1000.00 will tilt vertical or lay flat. I've read some good reports on the ones from TSC.
