ot: Small engine (not looking good in the eyes of

My son has a small go-cart. I have been working on it for several hours over the last couple of months. He's starting to relize that I don't know what I'm doing. I need help.

Problem:
Engine starts no problem. Runs up on block forever, no problem (shake it still no problem). Put it on the ground runs about 30 sec and stops running. It a 5 horse power Briggs and stratton.

I have gone over the engine several time not finding anything. Any ideas would bring a smile from ear to ear on his face and mine.
