One summer on a road crew I got the nod to drive the water truck, a '51 White Mustang tandem. What a machine! 20 gears ahead and I could find four of them: one per axle. Someone had put a big brass plaque in the cab: "If you are too good to keep this truck clean, you are too good to drive it." Without any instruction at all -- they way they did it back then -- it took me a while to figure out air brakes, but cars don't cut you off in downtown traffic when you're driving one of these babies.
