Check your voltage. The alternator regulator may have failed; if the voltage goes over 16 volts you're going to have some damage. However, I think you developed a short circuit in your radio. The dome light fuse may also power the dimmer for the instrument lights. This is usually connected to the radio lighting. A short on this circuit would have overheated the dimmer rheostat making the headlight switch hot. I wouldn't expect this to happen with a factory radio, but if you've replaced the radio anything is possible.
