I agree with you 100%. Problem is the majority of these "relief" orginzations want nothing but money, something many of us don't have any extra of to donate. My roomate made the comment the other day that she would gladly donate her sons old clothes that he had outgrown, along with his old toys, etc etc instead of taking them to a consignment shop. She even made a few calls to see where she could take the stuff. Problem is all this stuff is used and they don't want any used stuff. The way I understand it, they want the money to funnel back into the area's economy. My question is what economy, its gonna be nonexistant til the people get back home, and until they get home they need everything the can get. Plus with federal aid how much is really gonna come out of their actual economy? They also say it would be too hard to carry all the stuff down there. How do they think the stuff they go out and buy is gonna get down there, magic? It's gonna go in a truck the same way anything else would go. If they have to go down and buy it all new then not only is there the fuel and time involved in the stuff being brought into the stores, but also their fuel and time to go get it all and then distribute it. Seems to me like a truck load of stuff took straight down and distrubuted is the easiest and quickest way to go, but that's just my common sense talking there..... Having lost EVERYTHING I owned to a house fire once and relying on peoples donations of cloths, etc til I could get back on my feet, I know what these people are going through. Believe me most of them couldn't care less if something was new or not, anything's better than running around naked. If these relief agencies can't realize that and don't want donations from those of us that can't afford to lay down cash then to heck with them....I feel sorry for the people, but until the various agencies start thinking more with their heads than with their head up their a-- many of us aren't gonna be able to offer any assistance but our prayers. Just my .02.........

Today's Featured Article - The Day Mom Drove the 8N - by Brian Browning. My Dad was wanting to put in a garden but couldn't operate the 8N and handle the old horse drawn plow he had found and rigged up to use with the tractor. Well, he decided to go get Mom out of the house and have her drive the tractor while he walked behind the plow. You got to understand that while my Mom is a hard worker who will always help whenever she can... she had never operated farm machinery before that day. Dad got her out there, explained how the clutch was the same as in our o ... [Read Article]
