There were still some Shermans around when I first joined the Army (1953). I never operated one but was trained by guys who did. They called them "Zippos". "Light right off, first time, every time". I knew the Chief Warrant Officer who figured out how to attach Rommel's asparagus to the front of those Shermans to plow through hedgerows. The greatest generation to ever see the light of day. Thanks for your input. (A good friend of mine in the Transportation Corps was the project manager for Hummvee development).
