Sounds like you are describing a "snap ring" as opposed to a tension or split roll pin. go to the link & search snap ring. Is that what you need? They come in external & internal types, can be found at most hardware stores. They are often called jesus clips as in "Jeeeezeee" as it goes flying into the next zipcode. Joe
