Tim, I am a welder in Oklahoma, I attended welding school, I also quit regular school in the 8th grade and am functionally illiterate. My wife is writing this for me. I have been welding for 30 years, I have made as little as 3.75 up to 100.00 an hour. Welding is a skill and an honest trade, but it is very hard on your health. I am 48 years old and have buried several friends because of welding smoke inhalation. Think long and hard about using your back instead of your brain to make a living. You need to open a box of welding rods 7018"s and read the warning leaflet inside the box. Then decide if welding is a good career for you.
