I think these numbers would be okay IF the news media put them into perspective. For instance, more people have died in France due to this year's heat wave than ALL the Allies lost in Afganistan AND Iraq or how about comparing the murder rate of a big U.S. city, let's say of Detroit or St.Louis over the same period of time. I think comparisons are very valid.
