Anyone else getting sick and tired of the media constantly repeating the US body count toll without EVER a mention of the Iraqi body count. If their going to keep score give me both counts.

I'm betting on our guys and gals takeing out way more than the other guys is why they don't want you to know.

Alberta Mike,

With all due respect, to speak of our War on Terror as a "Silly War" is an absolute insult. This war is about preserving the freedoms we all share, Canadians included. The US doesn't mind carrying the load for Canada, but try to show a little more repect.

How many more Western terror attack deaths would there be if the armed forces were not out hunting down the "rats". The rats only understand force.Talking, decency and kindness is viewed as weakness by them.

I think these numbers would be okay IF the news media put them into perspective. For instance, more people have died in France due to this year's heat wave than ALL the Allies lost in Afganistan AND Iraq or how about comparing the murder rate of a big U.S. city, let's say of Detroit or St.Louis over the same period of time. I think comparisons are very valid.

Two things about that. in reply to Mike M, 08-12-2005 04:05:02
I quit watching TV several years ago, and I bet I am a lot healthier because of it. I only read the comics in the newspaper. I don't need the aggravation.

The military got burned badly because of the Vietnam body count stories, and it is good to see them learning from experience. They have no reason to trust the media and plenty of reason not to.

As long as the New York Times, CBS, CNN, ABC, NBC are allowed to abuse their Constitutional rights by fabricating and distorting the "news" to suit their anti-American and anti-military agenda, we will never know the truth. They must be held accountable for every word, every punctuation mark, and the practice of using un-named sources must be made illegal, and they must be held accountable for their lies and treason.
They have but one agenda, and that is to destroy this country and its values. They hide behind their first amendment rights, yet they are the first to demand that the 2cd amendment has no relevance, and that the right to own property is an outdated theory.
You can bet that they are trading information on American troop strength, tactics, dispostion, and planning in order to be allowed to photograph and interview terrorists and insurgent leadership and troops. How else could the American media been among the first to photograph the bodies of the 4 American security personnel that had been burned and then hung from the bridge?
The media are traitors, and should be treated as such.

Sounds as if you only believe the one true "news source"-----the White House Press Secretary.....

I do not support any of that.
But I will continue to support the other half who keep the safety of me and my family in their best interest.
Those people are motivated by uncovering the truth instead of "FOLLOWING THE MONEY".
I will continue to support my community and my govt, but I refuse to be led by any administration, in D.C. or my home town.

Good to hear from you Mr. 1945. Not many of us left.

Not at all. I take it all in with a grain of salt. I'm not in favor of hearing the daily body counts---- from EITHER side. I was around (and was a participant) when all of that was going on during the last campaign (Vietnam) when we were out to stop the threat of communism, and free another oppressed people....
All I'm saying is, that the reports from the media are no more distasteful (to me, anyway), than the White House reports telling us we're "winning the war on terror"----
Somewhere between the two camps lies the truth, I believe.....

I had 2 instances where I knew the complete story because I was in it and how the newspaper article that came out of it had manipulated the context so much that it was misleading.
I doubt the media since. Very much.
On world events I like to use the WWW
World Wide Web. An amazing device.
It enables free comunication to people on the other side of the glass to ask them what they are seeing. But, even them, people see what they are told to see by gov't and media unless it is first hand as in DigDugNC's contact. That is nice to hear.

He is also the person who told me about this web site one night while working night shift and talking about tractors. Great guy. Hey Jesse are you reading any of this? Shoot us a line!

If we would have had the current "news media" during the WW II we would have lost it.

Hey ya Merle. Just so happened I watched Patton last night. Everytime Patton got his rear end in a sling, was because the media rushed to get the stories out so he would. Guess the buzzards were around back then, just not as many, and the equipment to do it wasn't as sofisticated.

Last night I listened to the very beginning, when he gave his speech in front of the flag, and laughed my a$$ off inserting the New York Times in for the Post, and a few politicians. Laughed because could just as easily be today.

Mark

Officially this is done because the army does not report/track the number of enemy killed like it did in Vietnam. Unofficially this is done because the media doesn't give a rat's *** about a serviceman unless he's dead and can be used for propaganda.

The media is no longer worth watching. They have prolonged this war while they profit from it.

I just talk to a buddy of mind last week that has only been home from Irag for about a month. I asked how different things were from the way the media described it. He talked about different schools he helped build, and how excited the general public of Iraq was about there future. He told me about a hospital that he helped open to the public with free healthcare. Did you know that before we came in you could not take your love one to just any hospital for treatment no matter what the emergency, certain hospital were reserved for Suddams people only.
He also said that our men and women there know why they are there and believe in their mission and that the media only looks for the one bad attitude soldier for their stories

You got it Digdug! Go right to the source. My Bro's going sept 10th and I might be able to give the 411 from the scene in '06 sometime. I'm sorry the lady outside of W's ranch lost her son, but parents lose there kids for many reasons. He signed up for the Army not Amyway. There's a lot more positive things going on than what you see or hear about. All the terrorists are flocking to Iraq and thats alot better than them coming here. 'Sides, we don't have to worry about any old iron there geting blown up, can you imagine the color wars there!?

Hey DIG DUG, that"s just what my boy tells us from over there. They have opened schools, hospitals, etc.etc. The general public really loves us over there and are very friendly to our boys. I just wish the general public would get fed up with the terrorism and help a little more to combat it in their own streets. I think they are trying, they are just new to democracy and don"t quite know how to act. Our guys and gals are doing great. Get-er-done Harley

My son Bobby flies in to JFK next week completing a 3 year sign up with 13 months served in Iraq. He serves with the 1st ID, 9th Eng Bn. He did his share of EOD (thats Explosive Ordinance Disposal)mostly improvised explosives of the very dangerous type. He said many a time the nerves gets tested. he also trained Iraqi National Guard and lived with them, fought along side them and many gave their life in the process. He learned to love them as a fellow soldier. He said we had built schools, hospitals, govt buildings, sewer plants, water, etc that were never there.
Damn the naysayers. we have(our troops) have made life better for those over there.
