I have the same problem in my lawn, I watered it and its still brown, but when I walked over it I noticed that I was soft, not soggy just soft, I gave a little tug on the sod and it pulled loose. I started to pul back some of the sod, and I found grub worms - LOTS of them, they ate the roots off - I need to put down some grubex, then reseed HTH Rick
