Paul is correct as far as the basic mechanics go but there are so many variables involved that the question is difficult to address. Lots of these balers that "take forever to bale a ton" have so many problems that comparisons cannot be made. The hay and the operator also add greatly to output numbers.
If your talking about when they are/were new Pauls answer applies almost totally...
