Don't know how much they've changed over the years by our 5' Woods mower bush hog shaft has a spring-loaded pin that has to be pushed in to slip the shaft over the PTO. This is on our '59 Ford Diesel that just got crushed by an oak tree. If yours is the same, maybe it needs some lube to free up the pin that keeps the shaft in place on the PTO.
