Called a throwout bearing or clutch release bearing. It's the bearing that pushes against the clutch fingers when you push in the clutch pedal and want to disengage the tranny.

The rumbling is dry worn balls rolling (rumbling) around in the bearing races. Will just get worse and could cause bigger problems if let to where it just flies apart. Could get caught between a spinning clutch and fixed bearing release lever and tear up something.

Takes a housing split; otherwise easy to fix and not expensive.
