..ot..little chevy truck...problem

Good day folks. I have a problem. My little S10 quit. It will turn over but won't start, has fuel. Coil gets hot, really hot. (tried a different coil)....the odd thing is... is that once I stop trying to start it, and turn the key all the way off, the engine seems to turn backwords a bit like it has had the pressure taken off of it. Does that make sense? I was thinking starter solenoid not releasing, hence the hot wire/ coil, but it turns over like crazy. Thanks in advance. Hound
