I'm with Van on this one. In my-neck-o-the-woods, straw goes for $4 to $5 a bale. At that price I've considered planting winter wheat instead of fooling with hay. Just mow, rake and bale for twice the profit!!! I have planted it in October, just to hold the ground until I can put out seed in the spring. After cutting it so the place doesn't look abandoned, it comes right back - a guy may be able to get more than one cutting - any wheat farmers out there than can enlighten us?? The market is quite diverse - gardeners, landscaping companies, etc. I've never seen a surplus around here...
