Had a problem like this once before on a Farmall. Make sure the terminals on the generator are not shorting out onto the generator housing. Could also have a broken or bad wire in your harness. Check the resistance of your wires in your harness if your multimeter has the ability to. From end to end on each wire you should have no more than 1.0 ohms of resistance. Shake the harness around and see if it changes much. Anything more than that you have a wiring problem.
