In the Missouri National Guard we were on our way to Fort Hood Terxas with a convoy. One of the drivers in a M800 (Dodge with 318 gas) saw that the tank was low and poured in a 5 gallon jerry can of diesel and the engine spark knocked terribly and when we got to Ft. Hood the engine had to be replaced. If it had been filled up with gasoline and diluted the diesel fuel it would most likely not hurt it. My old Mercedes 190D owmers manual said in cold weather use 10% gasoline in extermely cold weather.
