Thanks for the replies folks.

When Mobil 1 first came out, they advertised 25,000 mile intervals. I suspect that Detroit put an end to that.

I have used Mobil 1 for over fifteen years changing oil every 22,500 and Hastings filters every 7500. So far I have driven an "83 Mazda PU and an "89 Cadillac Broughm 250,000 miles and a "95 GMC with 173,000 and a "97 Lexus with 94,000 and have never been into the engine on any of them. At 250,000 I figure I have gotten my money"s worth. I bought each one used with ~50,000 miles.

Now I am glad that the diesel rated is now 5w-40. That is what I will go to in the JD and Kubota. I figure they would go an easy 400 hrs, but I can"t seem to put that many on them in a year.

"Standard" Mobil 1 at the Walmart is $18. for 5 qts. "New and Improved" is $23. for 5 qts. What do I really get for the extra $5.00?

Today's Featured Article - The Engine Rebuild Kit - by Curtis Von Fange. I always liked engine rebuild kits. They have all the replacement parts for overhauling an engine without going to the store to get gaskets, special measuring tools, or miscellaneous parts. They come neatly packaged, clean and tidy. But it's important not to let that packaging lull you into a false sense of security. The appearance of matching sleeves, pistons, rings, and bearings can cause frustration and agony if not properly measured and installed in a workshop environment. Following c ... [Read Article]
