Troy Built 7 hp Pony Rototiller-Tines won't engage

I picked up a used Troy Built tiller, starts on second pull, runs great. Low and high speed forward and reverse all work fine.

However, the lever to engage the rear tines is stuck in the disengage position. It appears one of the gear housing bollts that holds the tine assembly on was missing and the gear housing seal was compromised. I pulled the tine assembly off and it appears the gearcase is dry.

Does anyone have experience rebuilding these? How much further will I have to dissasemble this to free up the engaging lever?

What type of gear oil works best with these tillers?

Anyone have some good sources for owners/service manual for these. The tiller is built pretty solid and I"m looking forward to putting it to use this summer.
