driving across the country question?

I am going to make a trip this summer across the country to Ca. I own an old Uhaul truck with 24' box which I'll be driving. I was wondering if I had to stop at all the weigh stations,and if there are any extra permits I need to buy. This is strictly a personal use truck,I an going to help a brother in law move his son from Ca. to Mo.
