That's not entirely true. The difference in volume between an extended 2-way cyl. & retracted cyl. is the volume of the piston rod/rods. And on loader cyliners that can be considerable. Crude as it sounds I do the same as mentioned below.... When the loader won't raise all the way I add a quart or two more fluid. If the res. gets over filled I have heard of the old IHC Belly pumps on H's & M's exploding from being over filled. My Super H is a Stage II and I want to keep the pump from sucking air as the level in the res. drops when the loader is raised all the way up. The two 2-1/2" x 30" cyl. with 1-1/2" rods use up most of the 6 quart system.
