You can also defeat them if they are damming up a creek by tearing out the dam down to the creek bed, laying a largish-diameter pipe on the creek bed which extends well beyond the base of the dam on each side, and letting them rebuild the dam over the top again. Creek will continue to drain through the pipe, and the little varmints can't figure out why the dam isn't working. I'm told they will eventually abandon the project and move to Cleveland.
