I have 1 and if you leave it outside or if mice have gotten into the magneto/area they sometime make nests in there and when you start it up the nesting stuff may cause timing belt to slip and then timing will go off.doesn"t matter whay you do to try to adj. it out,it just won"t run right.A honda mech .told me about this problem.
If you look below battery at rear of engine down at bottom of rear cover you can,if you are looking in just the right place,see a black plastic cover (and inspection hole) if you see alot of grass and stuff in any of those small openings then ,chances are you had a visitor.
I was able to remove debris and reuse belt ( it was alittle loose)but after reseting timing marks it now runs like a top again .Hoipe this helps Jim
