O.T. - Bacon

This may sound weird, but can any one explain why in the U S you can't get back bacon? All you ever see is what we in the UK call sreaky. What happens to all the back bacon which is larger slices, more meat and not as crisp. Even American or Canadian ham for breakfast is not the same! TIA, Chris.
