Wedge between both sides of the front axle and the frame rails, so the front assembly can't rock from side to side on the axle pivot. Securely crib up a support under the back of the engine. Then you can use a heavy-duty floor jack to roll the rear half back away from the engine.

Be carefull, and support everything at least twice as well as it looks like you'd need to!

Of course, having a set of splitting stands from a defunct Deere dealer makes the job a bit easier!
