Been there, done that. Christmas Day, 2000, and it was my first oil change. I torqued to spec and fractured the head. Had to weld it back together to get me by until I ordered a new aftermarket plug from Genos Garage online. I ordered one with a finger touch ball valve and put a little sealer on it and have not removed it since. I thought at the time that I had damaged the pan threads. Probably not. Turns out to be a very common problem. Read all about it on Turbodieselregister.com. Many, many posts over the last 5 years about it. Main thing is to ignore spec and tighten just enough to keep it in... Unless pan is damaged like yours may be. If I was in your boat, I would look at some of the plug alternatives Genos offers because changing the pan on that engine is quite a chore, and not cheap either. Good luck. David in SC
