Opinions are like belly buttons;everybody's got one. As long as you use the right API classification and you follow the engine/vehicle manufacturers recommendation for oil changes, my experience has been no oil related problems with either spark ignition or diesel engines. Having said that, I use chevron Delo 400 15W40 in all my diesel equipment and Chevron 10W40 or 5w30 in all my spark ignition engines because I get a good deal on it at Costco.
