No biggy just run a 14 ga wire to the starter. Had to do the same thing to my 85 Chevy Truck. Used the button for years that way. Never did figure why the switch would not turn all the way to start and putting in a starter button was so much easier & cheaper of a way to fix it. PS I also fixed it the day it broke needed to drive the truck. Just make sure the wire going to the solonoid is making a good conection befor you put a button in. That could also be your problem.
