Wife"s 2004 Chevy 4x4 crewcab; 8.1 Allison gets 9.5 mpg towing 18,000# load at 70MPH. Did that on a 1500 mile trip to NY last summer. 12.5 MPG as a daily driver. The 8.1 and the Allison is a great combination. You don"t always need the power but it is there if you do.
