But I've always been taught, and few times I've had to do it that seems right, you want to float on mud. Duals would keep you from getting bogged down...as quickly :D

Chains will keep digging. If it's only a little bit on the surface and you can dig to firm ground, fine. Otherwise, chains will just dig a hole to China. (We're you could then buy a low priced all wheel drive tractor...)
