From what you said, I think you are doing as well as possible, for the circumstances. Apparently, you have made a good faith effort now to follow the regs. You deserve credit for taking the time to teach your son to hunt, memories that will last him a lifetime, if nothing else.

Personally, the government goes to the extreme with hunting regs. and fines in the 21st century. For pete's sake, look what minimum wage is, the price of a bushel of wheat, a bushel of corn, and then look at the amount of the fines you gentlemen have described. I'm sorry but the government seems a little out of proportion on how they set these fines.

Yes, I hunt doves and pheasants, and yes I always buy the license, and "upland bird permit", even though they arbitrarily raise the price year after year, without the average American's input. Sorry, this got so long, just had to put my proverbial $ 0.02 in. It's still a great country, but I believe the government is getting a little too intrusive.
