I owned a 1973 3000. It was the first tractor I ever bought. (In 1977) It was a gasser. Good little tractor. I believe they were rated at around 42 HP. I used it hard, and never had any real complaints. I traded up to a 5000 after a couple years.

Gas engines tend to start easier in cold weather. There are ways to overcome that "problem" with diesels.

I would say in todays market, at least around here, a 3000 Ford would snatch about $4000 to $4500, plus another $1500 for a good loader. Sounds like a fair deal... Not cheap, but not too far out of line either.

A bigger tractor would be usefull on 100 acres, but bigger USUALLY means more expensive.
