Like any other moving parts they require service. Snowmobiles need this service every season as well.
If you follow the service manual you will see the regular call-up to disassemble the clutches and clean out the old dried lube and dirt. Then replace any worn parts and lightly lube with what the book specifies.Then set the belt clearances to compensate for wear.
