Hi Bob, Mike has it correct, #2 fuel oil is the same as #2D with the only difference being #2D has road tax appiled. Winter diesel or fuel oil is usually a 50/50 mix of #1D and #2D fuel oil in most locations but can have more #1 depending on the ambiment temperature expected. Depending on where you live, you can have #1 fuel oil as it won't gell as quick. Most oil burners use a heat exchanger to keep #2 fuel oil from gelling as #2 has a higher BTU content thus more bang for the buck. T_Bone
