My first TO-30 I bought and restored had a hole in the side of the block from a rod. Figured I could just replace the rod and patch the whole in it. No luck when I got into the engine it had cracks between the webs not caused by the rod! Ended up having to get a new block and was lucky to find one for it. That tractor is still running great from the fix done 3 years ago and was my first tractor I owned. It has not had anything done to it except oil changes and tune ups. Wish I still had it now.
