I agree with the cracked idea. May look like a line, but so fine you can't catch a fingernail on it. Never tried repairing them- just put on a new one and was done with it. Also a good time to put on the rubber boots, if yours still has the plastic ones. They get brittle and crack with age. Put on the whole set- they're cheap, and then you don't get stuck out in the field when you really need the tractor.
