I also have a 95 and have had the same problem. The transmission is shifted via cables. If you look down low on the right side of the transmission where the cables tie in to the shift levers you will see a slot and ball kind of setup. This is open and when it gets dirty and dry it hangs up and gets stiff. On the one I have I took a finger full of chassis grease and worked in there and worked the shift lever around a little and it freed right up. The dealer told me that it needed new cables and it would cost $250 to fix. Well let’s see, I greased it two years ago and it is still working fine. 165,000 miles and going strong.
