Batteries have come a long way since that 606 was built. A modern 12V battery has more power than those original 6 volt batteries combined, and have 2 less cable connections to give trouble. If it was mine,I would go with a single Optima or Exide Orbital sealed sprial cell 12V battery. They last a very long time( I have an Optima 15 years old that still cranks like new) and being sealed, do not corrode the battery box or terminals. They also have a very slow self discharge rate which is good for a tractor that sets a lot without being run. I was a bit shocked and amused to see a restored collection of Moline 6 cyl diesel tractors owned by the same guy. In the center of those huge battery boxes that originally held 3 parallel wired 12V batteries, was a single little Exide Orbital sealed battery that took up about 1/4 of the battery box. They easily fired up those 4-500 CI engines twice a day for the parades during the 4 day tractor show.
