Look. Any time you spend money, it ends up being converted to energy somewhere down the line. A good way to compare prices then and now, is by the equivalent gallons of gas it would have cost. (somehow considering gas tax). I think gas in 1960 was about 15 cents a gallon before tax. My Dad's 1960 pickup was $2000 outright. That's 13,000 gallons. Today that much gas would be about $20,000 + tax. He partly paid for the truck by milking 12 cows. However, it takes more gallons of milk today. (He had other farm income besides)
