Hydraulic valve problem

I have a valve that's hard to move intially in either direction. Once it's moved by force in one direction it moves freely in that direction. Then to go in the other direction force is needed, then it moves freely in that direction. It seems like it hangs in the center position. I've checked the linkage and that doesn't seem to be the problem. This valve is in the middle of a bank of valves. Any help is appreciated.
