FORD 4000 LEAKING FROM EXHAUST

I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 1973 FORD 4000,MY FIRST DIESEL TRACTOR.YESTERDAY I NOTICED WHAT LOOKED LIKE BLACK TAR LEAKING FROM THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WHERE THE STACK CONNECTS TO IT.WHAT IS THIS AND IS THIS ANYTHING TO BE CONCERNED WITH? THANKS
